Preamble:

We have experienced WiFi issues this evening that has eaten up a great deal of time and haven't been resolved so we are going to have to do just a brief summary of today's ride. We are going to revise today's post and add pictures when we are in Quebec City. Now on to today's abbreviated post...

We awoke this morning with the sound of rain against our window. The one positive we took from this was it meant the wind was from the West!

Fortunately, by the time we packed up and checked out the rain had stopped and the sun was breaking through the clouds. We decided to head to Old Montreal for breakfast and we found a creperie place. Ken had been hoping for fresh baked croissants, but it was not to be.

Soon we were making our way out of town, once again using Montreal's extensive bike system. After what seemed like an eternity (but was actually 28 kms) we were back on La Route Verte heading Northeast for Trois-Rivieres. This path follows the St Lawrence River, and it is one of the most picturesque we have ridden. There are many beautiful homes backing onto the river, as well as numerous stores and restaurants along the way. We were able to take advantage of a fairly strong wind, although it was out of the Northwest and not directly behind us.

When we reached Berthierville we stopped for lunch on a patio backing onto the river. Leaving there it was impossible to ignore the storm clouds looming in the sky directly in front of us, especially after our encounters from yesterday. As the afternoon progressed the winds increased in velocity and shifted more to the North. The storm clouds circled all around but didn't shed a drop of rain on us all day.

Just outside of Trois-Rivieres we reached 5,000 kms of riding! Once again we celebrated with a high five and then got back to business.

Finally, after over 6 hours of riding and 143 kms we arrived at the L'Urbania Hotel in Trois-Rivieres. After cleaning up we headed to the very cool downtown area and were fortunate to find a street concert which we enjoyed while dining on delicious Italian food on a streetside patio. We agreed that this is definitely another destination that would be worth returning to!
